Cockwood Boat Club  - affiliated to R.Y.A

Cockwood Boat Club is one of three boating clubs on the west side of the Exe estuary.  It originated when a group of local enthusiasts founded the Cockwood and District Boating Association in the late 1960s.   In 1974 a lease was arranged with the Crown Estate Commissioners, to manage facilities for club members in Cockwood Harbour.

The club has some 140 members, who must live within 80 miles of Cockwood, and provides limited moorings for vessels up to a maximum 25 feet in length.  Under the rules, the club is managed by an elected general committee, reporting to an Annual General meeting each January.

It worked closely with the Environment Agency to facilitate the extensive tidal defence work being carried out on the harbour walls and slipways in 2018, in order to protect local properties from the higher spring tides expected in years to come.
